The Charlotte Harbor Chapter, Punta
Gorda, Florida was chartered on 25 May 1981. Located on Charlotte Harbor on the
Gulf of Mexico, the chapter serves Charlotte County and the west central part
of the state of Florida. The chapter publishes a monthly newsletter, the MUSTER.
The chapter membership averages 100 members made up of currently serving,
former, and retired officers and their surviving spouses.
The Mission of
this organization is to:
* Inculcate and stimulate
love of our country and its flag.
* Defend the honor,
integrity, and supremacy of our National Government and the Constitution of the
United States.
* Advocate military forces
adequate to the defense of our country.
* Further the legislative
and other objectives of the Military Officers Association of America.
* Encourage and facilitate
camaraderie among retired, active and former officers of the uniformed
Services.
* Further the ties between
the military and civilian communities through participating in and sponsoring
community activities.
* Promote useful services
for, and to protect the interest of our members, their dependents and
survivors.
The chapter is an IRS 501(C)(19) non-profit, tax-exempt organization affiliated with National MOAA and the Florida Council of Chapters, MOAA, but not associated with the Department of Defense. The chapter is non-partisan and the contents of the Muster articles are the opinions of the authors and are not necessarily those of the National MOAA, Florida Council of Chapters, the Charlotte Harbor Chapter (FL31), or the Department of Defense.
