About our Speaker

.Col Dave Hensley, USAF (Ret)

Speaker's Bio:
- Originally from Martinsville, VA, he is a 1971 graduate of Martinsville
High School
- Earned a congressional appointment to the US Air Force Academy,
graduating in 1975
- Earned Air Force wings and flew “hurricane” reconnaissance duty
- Flew the Lockheed WC-130 logging 35 named Typhoon penetrations
- 1979 cross-trained as a Northrup T-38 jet instructor
- 1982 volunteered for U-2/TR-1 reconnaissance program
- Extensive operations worldwide as pilot, instructor, and evaluator in
U2, TR-1 and T-38
- Multiple deployments to Korea, Patrick AFB, Saudi Arabia (Desert
Storm), England, Puerto Rico, Cyprus & classified sites
- Commanded a T-38 Detachment in South Dakota, a U-2 Detachment in Saudi Arabia, a U-2
Squadron in England, and a Combat Plans Squadron in Arizona
- Holds a Lockheed certificate #10 for more than 2000 hours in the U-2
- Retired in 2001 and entered the flight training industry
- Served as a flight school Chief Instructor and Part 142 Training Center Evaluator
- Currently a Training Center Manager at Kissimmee Florida & Chief Instructor at Deland Aviation
- Holds the FAA Gold Seal flight designation and 8-time recipient of the National Association of
Flight Instructor’s Master Flight Instructor designation.
- He has over 11,000 flight hours with over 5,000 hours of dual instruction given
- Holds Airline Transport Pilot license with multi-engine and instrument instructor ratings
