THE CAPE CANAVERAL
CHAPTER is pleased to serve as the host chapter for the Florida
Council of Chapters 2008 Convention. We invite you to come and enjoy the
many wonderful attractions for which Cocoa Beach, the Space Coast and
the theme parks in Orlando are so well known.
Countless cultural treasures and fascinating sights are easily
available. There is the Kennedy Space Center which is a must see with
its Saturn Booster and attached Apollo Space Craft and Lunar Module.
Experience a simulated Saturn countdown and a simulated lunar landing.
There is the IMAX Theater and a new simulated shuttle lift-off. Plan to
play a round of golf at the Patrick Air Force Base Golf Course and take
an exciting Air Boat ride to see some alligators.
Plan to spend time at Cocoa Village, one of the sponsored tours. Shop in
the quaint little stores. Visit Travis Hardware Store that has been open
continuously since 1888. Travis Hardware displays and sells items from
when they opened right up to today. A person can experience a nostalgia
trip like no other. Have lunch at Cocoa Village at one of the top-notch
restaurants. Stroll through River Side Park and view the boats in the
marina and the stern paddle wheeler tied up waiting to start its daily
sunset cruise.
Visit Port Canaveral and tour the port. Enjoy seafood sitting at your
table overlooking the ship channel.
Our hospitality committee will be ready to advise you on many of the
other exciting places of interest, including an array of suggestions for
restaurants, some offering special promotions for our attendees.
This year the convention has been shortened to three days to make it
more affordable in both time and money. However, the special hotel rates
are good from 3 days before the convention to 3 days after the
convention as long as space is available. So come early or stay longer
and make it a Space Coast Holiday!
