Welcome Message from our Chapter President
Welcome to the Halifax Area Chapter of MOAA's Website. Please take the opportunity to review the website and our Chapter activities. Our mission is to support veterans and their families through active engagement at the local, state, and national levels. We do this by supporting state and national legislative priorities in protecting earned benefits that include pay, health benefits, family support programs, and employment opportunities for Officers and spouses as they transition to the area. Also, we actively engage in the local community supporting monthly events at the Bennett VA Nursing Home and the VA Clinic. We have a Luncheon Meeting on the 4th Thursday of each month, except May through August, featuring speakers from the military, community, business, and health and wellness. Finally, our Chapter members value the camaraderie and shared experiences unique to those who have served. Our national motto is “Never Stop Serving.” So, please consider joining our Chapter! "About the Award
MOAA renamed the award in 2011 after Colonel Marvin J. Harris, USAF (Ret), Director of Public Relations from 1996 until 2011. Colonel Harris delivered effective communications to both military and civilian audiences. Each year, national MOAA holds a communications award contest to identify those councils and chapters that do an outstanding job communicating with their members and community."

Veterans Memorial Plaza Planned in Daytona Beach

During the Public Input phase of creating the new Veterans Memorial Bridge, there also was discussion to create an adjacent Veterans Memorial Plaza, which would be on the northwest side of the bridge. The Veterans Memorial Plaza will provide a beautiful place for people to come and remember fallen veterans. It will also provide a location for local veteran organizations to host military ceremonies and celebrations.
