PRESIDENT'S WELCOME
(Eunice Patxot, Colonel, U.S. Army Retired)
Welcome to the Sun City Center Chapter of MOAA, with a mission to support and advocate veteran causes locally and nationally and promote commoraderie among veterans within the community. Our Chapter is located in Sun City Center, however, we encourage active, retired or former commissioned officers of the seven uniformed services of the United States from the surrounding areas to include Apollo Beach, Brandon, Gibsonton, Lithia, Riverview, Ruskin, Valrico, and Wimauma to visit and join our Chapter. We meet the first Wednesday of the month during September through June in the Florida Room of the main campus of the Sun City Center Community Association located at 941 North Course Lane. We begin our meetings at 11:00 with a few minutes to socialize with fellow members and guests, a brief business session, a delicious catered buffet meal, and speakers who share a myriad of military topics as well as non military topics relevant and of interest to the members, spouses, and guests.
We are a very active Chapter with over 160 members. In addition to our monthly meeting, we are the coordinating veteran's organization for the annual community Memorial Day Commemoration Service where all military veterans in the community who passed during the time since the last service are recognized with a “Living Flag Tribute”. Annually, we: 1) recognize and cash award to top performing JROTC Cadets from ten high schools in South Hillsborough County and 2) provide a donation to Operation Warm Heart, a non-profit organization created by the First Sergeants' Council, MacDill AFB to raise money and provide relief for military families throughout the year.
The Chapter has received the MOAA “Five Star Level of Excellence Award “ in recognition of the combined efforts of our members since 2018. We invite you to visit us during one of our meetings and encourage you to become a member. The prestige, influence, and success of MOAA rests in the strength of all its chapters and we need your support. See the About US page for more detailed information and you can submit your application by selecting the Join Us page.
We are a 501(c)19 non-profit Veteran service organization and donations made to support Chapter activities may be eligible for a tax deduction. Consult with your tax adviser.
