The Palm Beach -
Martin Counties Chapter of MOAA consists of retired, former, and current
officers of the eight uniformed services who live in Palm Beach County and southern Martin County, and is an affiliate of
MOAA National.
Fully supporting
the ideals of and advocacy by the national Military Officers Association of
America, members of MOAA PBM enjoy the brotherhood of arms together in camaraderie
with a purpose, by getting together on a routine basis in both formal and
casual settings for both purposeful and social events.
Locally, MOAA
PBM devotes much effort and resources to encouraging high school students who
participate in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs in a dozen
local high schools to continue serving the nation either immediately after high
school by enlisting, or in the military academies or college ROTC programs.
Additionally,
MOAA PBM is an major participant in generating resources for the Wounded
Veterans Relief Fund, a statewide organization that assists veterans in need
throughout Florida, as well as serving as a collection point for the Marine
Corps Toys-for-Tots Program in Palm Beach County.
In terms of
social events, MOAA PBM normally conducts a monthly luncheon or dinner with
local prominent speakers, plus monthly “Officers Calls” at local watering
holes in the finest traditions of a battalion’s or squadron’s officers
getting together at the Officers Club after a successful difficult event.
Not to be outdone,
the spouses of the male officers and our female officers, meet routinely for a
Ladies Luncheon where they get away from the men for their enjoyable, testosterone-free
version of camaraderie.
Connected by a
monthly newsletter and a professional contact management email system, MOAA PBM
members enjoy getting together with fellow officers while… continuing to serve.
