• Guest speaker, Jakarti Young, Daytona Beach Chief of Police gave an insightful talk regarding the role of the Police in the community, noting that the police e are the community, and the community is the police. 
  • To compensate for the lack of Police walking a beat, Chief Young has instituted a "Park, Walk and Talk" program.  This program requires that police spend at least thirty minutes on each 12 hour shift interfacing directly and personally with citizens.
  • When asked why we don't see bank robberies like those shown in gangster movies, Chief Young explained that fraud is now the major method used by criminals to steal money.
  • He also noted that the Daytona Beach Police Department has several drones that are used in public safety roles.
• The Chief's presentation was followed by a short presentation by the Chapter President on a subject related to computer fraud - computer passwords.  She showed statistics proving that passwords should be at least ten characters long; should contain no actual words; should contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. She showed examples of strong passwords.
